Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM) is the oldest and largest Spanish technical university, with more than 4.000 faculty members, around 38.000 undergraduate students and 6.000 postgraduates organised in 21 Schools of study. UPM Schools cover most of engineering disciplines, as well as Architecture, Computer Science and Geodesy & Cartography. Moreover, UPM has a strong commitment to R&D and Innovation, boasting over 200 Research Units and over 10 Research Institutes and Technological Centres. The research to be developed within LEMCOTEC is carried out by the Laboratory for Experimental Fluid Dynamics (LEF), integrated within the School of Aerospace Engineering. The laboratory has been involved in experimental work in turbomachinery aerodynamics for the past 8 years, including the use of advanced laser based diagnostics used in the detailed aerodynamic characterisation of axial turbomachinery components.
PM is responsible of variable core studies. Furthermore, UPM is responsible for low Mach number cascade testing over a range of Re number, blade aerodynamic loading and end-wall designs for high efficiency, compact intermediate pressure systems. And UPM will assist to high speed tests.
