The Technische Universität Dresden (Dresden University of Technology / TUD) was founded in 1828. Today it serves approximately 38.000 students in various faculties, with 4000 students studying mechanical engineering. The Chair for Turbomachinery and Jet Propulsion at the Institut für Strömungsmechanik (ISM) and the Institut für Leichtbau und Kunststofftechnik (ILK) are involved in LEMCOTEC. The experimental focus and equipment of the Chair for Turbomachinery and Jet Propulsion (ISM) is mainly related to compressor and turbine aerodynamics. At the Institut für Leichtbau und Kunststofftechnik (ILK) comprehensive research is performed in the field of load-adapted lightweight structures.
TUD / ISM is investigating in collaboration with with Rolls-Royce and MTU the 4-stage low- speed research compressor (LSRC) including two new blading configurations. ILK is responsible for the experimental and numerical analysis of bushes and fin seals with the aim to gain better understanding of the complex tribology phenomena, which enable to develop more reliable bush and sealing solutions. For this analysis available test rigs will be adapted to the relevant geometries and loads.
